President's Message

Welcome to the 2008 year at the University of Adelaide Law School.  A student’s stay at the Adelaide Law School is so much more than an academic exercise.  It is an effervescent journey through the excitement and exhilaration of University life, building the foundation of a rewarding career.

The Law Students’ Society (LSS) exists precisely to meet that need – it provides you with a platform through which you can enjoy a myriad of events and activities tailored to law students just like you.  We are a committee of fun-loving and devoted law students who have way too much spare time on our hands, and we have organised an action packed 2008 year:

Socially, we have all the usual suspects – Law Ball, Law Dinner, Oakbank Races Trip, Annual Pub Crawl, cocktail nights and the infamous First Year Law Camp.

For the career-minded, expect to have a serious edge over other law schools with a revamped Careers’ Fair, an expanded Careers’ Guide, new cocktail nights with law firms and more lunchtime seminars, including presentations from non-legal organisations.  Also try out our ever-popular competitions, including Mooting, Trial Advocacy, Client Interviewing, Negotiations and Paper Presentation.

We have also expanded our Educational team to ensure that we are advocating for the best legal education in a challenging climate for all Australian law schools.  As always, social justice and student advocacy is an upmost priority for us.

We encourage you to get involved in the LSS and to make the most out of your stay at the Adelaide Law School.  Please feel free to speak to any one of us, emails us or browse our website (www.aulss.org.au) for more information.

On behalf of the LSS committee, I look forward to your involvement in 2008 and I wish you a prosperous and fulfilling year.

Alexander Ovchar
